Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Corona virus positive confirmationCovid-19) increased by 1,173, Thursday (16/6).

Thus, the accumulation of Covid-19 cases in Indonesia since the first patient was announced in March 2020 has now become 6,064,424.

Of that number, 5,901,083 recovered (plus 509), and 156,673 died (plus 3).

The number of active cases in Indonesia as of today at 12.00 WIB recorded by the Covid Task Force is 6,668 (an increase of 661 compared to the previous day).

There are 4,054 suspects, and 76,459 specimens examined in laboratories throughout Indonesia in the last 24 hours.

Positive cases of Covid-19 have increased again since the last few days, and broke again by a thousand cases on Wednesday (15/6), namely 1,242 new confirmations. Previously, the highest addition in a day had occurred on June 14 with 930 new positive cases.

On the one hand, the Ministry of Health stated that the community already has immunity. Both naturally because many have been infected, and thanks to the corona virus vaccination.

The government also claims the increase in cases is not related to the discovery of the Omicron BA.4 and BA.5 subvariants. So far, there have been 8 cases found in Indonesia.

The government also plans to stop the implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM). The government is still conducting evaluations. Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin said the survey of public immunity would be conducted again in July.

The results will be used as a basis for the government to formulate new policies to deal with the pandemic after the commemoration of Indonesia’s independence on August 17, 2022.

Previously, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) considered that the case of corona virus transmission in Indonesia was still under control after the Eid al-Fitr holiday or Lebaran 2022. Jokowi referred to the evaluation of Covid-19 data, where the number positivity rate Indonesia is still below 5 percent.

“But I think this increase is still in a controlled position,” said Jokowi at Rumpin, Bogor, West Java, Friday (10/6).
