Daile Theater We inform our viewers about the status quo of the new production “Cotton Rural Loneliness” at the Daile Theater in connection with the current situation.

The first phase of the project in January this year, namely the production of decorations and the artistic costs of the first trial period, was co-financed by the Contemporary Art Development Fund “Territory” from Russia, with which we agreed on a co-production last year. This phase is over. Rehearsals are scheduled to resume in early May.

From March 1, the number of spectators in the Daile Hall is not limited. Summarizing the ticket revenue and seeing the great audience interest in the project, we can predict that we will be able to finance the project only with our own income from ticket sales. There is currently no reason for the premiere to be at financial risk at the end of May.

The director of the show, T. Kulabin, is currently working in Prague and in May he plans to continue working at Daile on “The Loneliness of the Cotton Countryside”.

This week, the artistic team, including the key people in the project, actor J. Malkovich and I. Dapkunaiti and director T. Kulabin will decide how to work further so that the project can be successfully completed.

We are convinced that the well-planned international project, with J. Malkovich and I. Dapkunaiti in the main roles will take place as planned. Ticket sales to the additional seats that will be available as a result of the deregulation will begin once the conditions for implementing the project have been fully understood.

And it is only self-evident that we will not allow any artist or co-production partner to cooperate with our theater if he supports Russia’s war in Ukraine.
