Daile Theater starts selling tickets for the November premieres – Stage – Culture +

At the same time, ticket sales will start for the second premiere scheduled for November – the production of Regina Lake’s novel “Zemdega” directed by Dmitry Petrenko. Only on Thursday, tickets for November performances can be purchased with a 10% discount.

On November 20, the central event of the centenary of the Daile Theater – the production of Māra Zālīte’s latest play “Smiļģis” will have its premiere in the Great Hall of the Daile Theater. The play begins with the birth of the idea of Daile Theater in the mind of one genius, followed by the founding of the theater. The show is an event of the Latvian state centenary program.

Eduards Smiļģis is not only the founder of the Daile Theater, an innovative director, an actor of strength and ecstasy, but also a controversial genius who, like a chameleon, changes his nature depending on the woman he loves at that time or the power that reigns at that time. The drama in two parts tries to find out what really lies behind Smilg’s thousand masks and what price a genius has to pay for the ability to play theater, hurt and love beyond the limits of the average person.

The director of the show Viesturs Kairišs has joined the team of scenographer Ieva Jurjānis, costume designer Ilze Vītoliņš, lighting artist Oskars Pauliņš and choreographer Jan Jacuk.

Cast: Artūrs Skrastiņš, Lauris Dzelzītis, Gints Grāvelis, Dainis Grūbe, Kaspars Dumburs, Kārlis Arnolds Avots, Vita Vārpiņa, Ilze Ķuzule-Skrastiņa, Rēzija Kalniņa, Dārta Daneviča, Ieva Segliņa, Olga Dreģe.

From September 10, spectators will also have the opportunity to purchase tickets for the November premiere in the Small Hall. In honor of the ninetieth anniversary of the Latvian writer Regīna Ezera, the Daile Theater has decided to dramatize one of her best works, but which has remained in the shadow of the novel “Aka” – the phantasmagoria “Zemdegas”.

The phantasmagoria or ghost speech speaks in two parts about a small Latvian town, Mūrgale, whose inhabitants, like the heroes of Twinpeak from the legendary mystical series of the 1990s directed by David Lynch, are united by muffled longings, fears and ghosts of the past. The innocent attempt of two local teenagers to get closer starts a series of events that highlight the secrets of Mūrgale that have been hidden for years.

The premiere of the production is expected on November 17. The director of the show is Dmitry Petrenko, the author of the drama is Justine Klava. Anete Krasovska, Toms Veličko, Ērika Eglija-Grāvele, Inita Sondore, Juris Bartkevičs, Artis Robežnieks, Lelde Dreimane, Indra Briķe, Mārtiņš Upenieks, Lilita Ozoliņa and Pēteris Liepiņš will take part in the roles.
