Today, at a press event, the representatives of Daile Theater informed about the repertoire of the 102nd season and current events of the theater. This season, the theater will host 15 premieres, as well as a concert series “Canon of Dailes”, which will experience its premiere to the general public in “Dailes dārzs” with the collaboration of actress Olga Dreģe and composer, pianist Edgars Cīrulis today.
Juris Žagars, member of the board of Daile Theater, artistic director Viesturs Kairišs, leading playwright Justīne Kļava took part in the press event. Actress Olga Dreģe, pianist and composer Edgars Cīrulis provided an insight into the concert cycle “Dailes kanons”, as well as Kārlis Arnolds Avots, Artūrs Skrastiņš, Gints Grāvelis and Toms Veličis. Architect Reinis Liepiņš informed the audience about the plans to rebuild the Small Hall of the Theater.
This week, another premiere will take place in the theater, already on August 5, the drama of Regina Lake’s novel “Zemdega” directed by Justine Maple, directed by Dmitry Petrenko, will be presented to the audience. The drama preserves the original literary language of Lake Regina, which was a special experience for both actors and directors. The author of the performance music is Jānis Šipkēvics.
On August 12, the premiere of the contemporary tragic comedy full of tension by the British playwright Nina Rhine is expected. ”Consent”, Directed by Laura Groza. On August 27, the long-awaited central event of the centenary of the theater will be premiered – the latest plays by Māra Zālīte ”Sandstone”Production directed by Viesturs Kairiss.
The premiere of Eugene Jonesco’s comic absurd drama is expected in September “Rhinoceros”, Staged in the Great Hall of the Daile Theater by the successful Hungarian director Ildiko Gāšpāra, who works in Europe, uniting Rein and Kristi Dzudzilo, as well as several outstanding Hungarian artists in the creative team of the show.
In October, the repertoire of Daile Theater will be supplemented by a production by Regnārs Vaivars “Three friends”, Inspired by the novel by Erik Maria Remark. There will also be another premiere in October – a performance of Elīna and Rūdolfs Gediņš and Krista and Reinis Dzudzilo’s movements “Very good minutes”.
In November, the premiere is scheduled for a play by Henry Louis, Jonathan Seiers, Henry Shield “Total failure”. Intars Rešetins will be the director of the already popular comedy in Daile Theater.
December at Daile Theater is marked by the production of a novel by Estonian cult writer Oscar Luts directed by Dmitry Petrenko “Spring”.
Clare van Kampen, directed by Viesturs Kairiss, will reach the audience in January. “Farinelli a karalis”.
In the spring, the Daile Theater will have a number of performances that are already intriguing – Polish director Lukash Tvarowski is working on the work of Anka Herbut, entitled “Rokto”And it will premiere in March. The show will tell about the famous artist Mark Rothko’s relationship with plagiarism. In April, director Viesturs Kairišs will offer the audience a classic, the work of Henrik Ibsen ”Brands”. The Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen’s 1865 work “Brands” will be a new translation by Edwin Raup, which will make the one-and-a-half-century-old play written in verses easy to understand for the modern viewer.
The leading playwright of the theater Justīne Kļava offers a comedy, which is still given a temporary title “Washed”, Which will be directed by Gata Schmidt in May.
As a special novelty, Daile Theater highlights a new playground in the theater – the Glass Hall, which is located on the second floor of the theater. There will be the premiere on October 1, two performances in a row in one evening, namely, Patrick Ziskinda “double bass“, Staged by the new director Henrijs Arājs and a musical performance by Joanna Murray Smith, directed by Laura Upeniece”Songs for an empty space”.

The press event was also attended by architect Reinis Liepiņš, who outlined his vision for the forthcoming reconstruction of the Theater Small Hall and Rehearsal Hall. Construction work on the theater is planned to start in the autumn of this year, completing the reconstruction of the Small Hall next year, in 2022.

Currently, performances at the Daile Theater can be attended by those who have been vaccinated against or have contracted Covid-19 and can present a Covid-19 certificate.
