The automotive market in Indonesia is still showing a positive trend at the beginning of 2023. PT Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) disclosed their car retail sales data for January – March 2023 which had increased.
PT Astra Daihatsu Motor’s Marketing Director and Corporate Planning & Communication Director, Sri Agung Handayani, said that Daihatsu’s retail sales in March 2023 had exceeded 18,500 units. As for retail sales during the first quarter of 2023, Daihatsu managed to reach 57,567 units.
“In March Daihatsu sold 18,500 units for retail. But in January-March, Daihatsu’s sales were 57,567 units. Compared to last year, this is an increase of 22.6%,” said Sri when questioned on Thursday (7/4/2023) .
When compared to March 2022, Daihatsu’s sales increased by 13.42%. Meanwhile, when compared to sales in the first quarter of 2022, sales also increased by 22.6%, which in the first quarter of 2022 Daihatsu managed to sell around 46 thousand units of cars.
Sri added, LCGC (Low Cost Green Car) cars and commercial vehicles are still the backbone for Daihatsu. He said Sigra and Gran Max still had the highest sales figures, but Sri did not explain the figures in more detail.
“Ayla is one of them. Gran Max’s requests are always good, maybe she is to support Eid, usually for logistics and other transportation. And the point is, because there is still Eid support,” said Sri. “But, Sigra and Gran Max are the biggest,” he said.
When viewed from the data for January-February 2023, it was found that Daihatsu Sigra had sold 10,804 units. Daihatsu Gran Max Pick Up sold 9,371 units, Daihatsu Xenia sold 5,052 units, and Daihatsu Ayla was at 4,979 units.
In addition, Sri also provided data on Daihatsu’s SPK at the Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week (GJAW) 2023 automotive exhibition which was held on March 10-19 2023, GJAW 2023 seems to have provided a slight boost to Daihatsu’s sales in the first quarter of 2023.
“The SPK is clearly better than last year’s Jakarta Auto Week. Last year there were 161 SPK, while this year there were a total of 403 SPK,” said Sri.
