Daihatsu Recall Alert: Jakarta Owners Urged to Take Action

Daihatsu announced a recall of several cars sold in Indonesia. The recall announcement was made last month. However, not many consumers have gone to the repair shop for repairs.

In the Special Service Campaign program, Daihatsu asked Xenia owners to check and tighten the front Shock Absorber Nut. The Xenia affected is the production year November 2021 to September 2023. Not only that, Daihatsu is also recalling the Xenia produced in November 2022 to check and repair the right front Door Beam.

A total of 42,017 Xenia units were affected. However, according to Marketing Director and Corporate Planning & Communication Director of Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM), Sri Agung Handayani, only 5 percent of cars have been recalled.

“Xenia, if I’m not mistaken, the side impact beam is 5 percent, while the shock absorber nut is around 3 percent. There are two, the nut (shock absorber) is 42 thousand (units) and the side beam is 1,410 (units). For that one “(side beam) is only 5 percent. That’s what has come to the workshop. But the number of people contacted every day is 100 consumers per day,” explained Agung when met at an iftar event with the media in Jakarta, recently.

Daihatsu hopes that this recall matter will be completed as soon as possible. Daihatsu is also actively contacting its consumers to invite them to workshops for repairs under this recall program.

“As quickly as (recalling) Ayla (regarding the ECU inspection). Ayla didn’t arrive until five months. We are now inviting her again because we haven’t finished yet, we have all contacted 42,000 people. We also use WhatsApp,” said Agung.

For this reason, Daihatsu Xenia owners who are affected by the recall are expected to immediately go to a repair shop. Checking and tightening the shock absorber nut only takes about 30 minutes. Meanwhile, checking and repairing the right front Door Beam takes 3-4 hours. This repair is free.
