The All New Daihatsu Xenia has been launched since last month. However, many consumers who invaded the old Xenia still use rear wheel drive (RWD).
It is known, Daihatsu Xenia has been completely overhauled. One of them is the use of a new platform and a change in the drive system from RWD to front wheel drive (FWD).
Hendrayadi Lastiyoso, Marketing & Customer Relations Division Head of PT Astra International Tbk. Daihatsu Sales Operation (AI-DSO), said that even though the All New Xenia was born, many consumers still flocked to the old Xenia. Those who hunt old Xenia are wholesale consumers or fleets.
“Even now, Fleet is slightly overwhelmed by receiving orders for the old Xenia. Fleet is more functional. They are hunting for the old Xenia. So the several hundred units we sold in December have more fleets using the old Xenia,” said Hendrayadi.
He admits, there are still many consumers who want the old Xenia. He said, as usual when there is a new car launch, the old car will still be sought after by consumers. Because, usually the discount is high.
“If friends say branch heads, old Xenia is like gold, everyone is looking for it. Usually new models appear, old models are searched for, because usually the discounts are very large,” explained Hendrayadi.
Hendrayadi emphasized that Daihatsu is still selling the old Xenia with RWD drive. The old Xenia that is still being sold is the 1,300 X MT type.
According to him, the stock of the old Xenia is currently running low, in fact it is almost running out. In fact, he said, several dealers in the regions asked for the old Xenia to be supplied again.
“Because now while there is still PPnBM (discounts) for PPnBM, the discount is huge, now it’s a fight. The stock has run out. Maybe if there are 1-2 fights, it will be very thin (the stock of the old Xenia),” he said.
“But don’t worry, (older Xenia type) 1,300 X MT is still being produced, we still offer it, we sell it. Not only this year, we will still sell it in 2022. So if you don’t get it now, maybe later you will get it in 2022,” he said.
