Former SOE Minister Dahlan Iskan admitted that he was curious about the figure of Akidi Tio. Dahlan even contacted all his acquaintances who might know Akidi Tio.
The figure of the deceased Akidi Tio known as a person who is humble and does not want to stand out. Akidi Tio is a philanthropist and often doesn’t reveal his identity.
This was revealed by Hardi Darmawan, Akidi Tio’s family doctor through the writings of the former Minister of SOEs, Dahlan Iskan. Akidi himself has recently been in the spotlight for donating IDR 2 trillion to help deal with COVID-19.
Told by Hardi, Akidi Tio is a humble person. Whenever he comes to Hardi’s practice, Akidi always only wears a white shirt and pants.
Dahlan was curious because all of his Chinese friends in Palembang didn’t know the figure Akidi Tio. According to Hardi, this is because Akidi Tio is very humble and doesn’t want to stand out.
“He contributed a lot. But always only in the name of God’s servant,” said Hardi as quoted by Dahlan in his writing on disway.id as quoted by detikcom, Wednesday (28/7/2021).
According to Hardi’s confession, Akidi Tio once owned a soy sauce factory, furniture, palm oil plantation and a building contractor.
Still curious, Dahlan also contacted Alex Noedin, who had been the Governor of South Sumatra. Alex admitted that he did not know the name at all. Dahlan then contacted a former minister from Palembang whose name he did not mention. The answer is the same.
Dahlan is still trying. He contacted five Chinese businessmen there and none of them knew the name. He also contacted a person surnamed Tio. The answer is also the same, do not know the name.
In his writings, Dahlan also considered, Akidi Tio a very humble businessman. According to him, there are so many things like that in Chinese society.
Dahlan admitted that he had many Chinese friends who were like Akidi Tio. Everyday he only wears sandals, his clothes are shabby and of ordinary cloth. His name is never mentioned anywhere but the money is enormous.
“I am ashamed to wear nice clothes in front of them,” wrote Dahlan ending his writing.
