Daggerfall Unity: Unofficial Remake of The Elder Scrolls II Released in Unity Engine

Gavin “Interkarma” Clayton has just released version 1.0 of the unofficial remake of The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall in the Unity engine called Daggerfall Unity. This is a dream come true for all old school Elder Scrolls fans.

Daggerfall Unity is a cool remake of the old The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall. The modder reimagined it in the Unity engine to give today’s gamers a taste of this classic RPG. And available for free!

Daggerfall Unity requires a free copy of the DOS version of Daggerfall to run. It will provide all the necessary game assets such as textures, 3D models and sound effects. You can download it on Steam or GOG.

The developer has stated that this newest version of Daggerfall Unity includes all planned features. Interkarma will now shift its focus to supporting the community and ensuring the smooth running of the project. In addition, the game’s development will now move towards future mod support.

This fan remake of Daggerfall won’t make it look like Oblivion or Skyrim. Even though it has a better lighting system and support for high-resolution textures, it still uses 2D sprites for the characters. Some may be upset about this, but scaling the original sprites preserves the art style. So don’t expect it to look like the latest Elder Scrolls games. Still, it’s a neat update.
