It was revealed that Mr. A, a Daejeon elementary school teacher who made an extreme choice after suffering malicious complaints from parents, was reported to the School Violence Countermeasures Autonomous Committee (School Violence Committee) before being accused of child abuse.
According to the Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education on the 13th, Parent B reported school violence on December 2, 2019, saying, “Teacher A abused the child.”
Mr. B is known to have claimed that Teacher A’s actions, such as scolding his child in front of his friends, were child abuse.
Accordingly, the school held a school violence committee on the 12th of the same month, and the school violence committee ordered psychological counseling for Mr. B’s child, but concluded the case with a decision of ‘not applicable’ for teacher A.
The School Violence Commission takes action against violence that occurs between students, but adult teachers are not included in this target.
However, at the time, it was known that Mr. B pushed ahead with the report and demanded separation measures even though Teacher A could not be subject to punishment by the school violence committee.
Afterwards, Mr. B again took issue with Mr. A’s behavior and eventually reported it to the police, and teacher A was cleared of charges after a 10-month investigation by the investigative agency.
In relation to this, teacher A’s husband expressed his frustration, saying, “My wife has been suffering from parents, but as a teacher, I thought it was not right to report them,” and “I, too, have been watching this and have only been in pain.”
