While the People Power Party is embroiled in controversy over the issue of the emergency response committee chairman following the resignation of Representative Kim Ki-hyun, Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo expressed his opposition to Minister Han Dong-hoon, saying, “President Yoon Seok-yeol cannot be the avatar.”
Mayor Hong Joon-pyo emphasized through social media today, “We need to recruit someone with political experience and experience handling big issues to create an emergency committee. If we make President Yoon Seok-yeol’s avatar as the party leader again, will the election be successful?”
Mayor Hong’s comments are interpreted as an opposition to Minister Han, who is President Yoon Seok-yeol’s closest close friend and is a strong candidate for chairman of the People Power Party’s Emergency Response Committee.
Mayor Hong went on to criticize, saying, “Isn’t that what Representative Kim Ki-hyun’s failure was like?” and that “those who are subject to reform are trying to recreate the second term of Kim Ki-hyun’s regime through media play in order to survive.”
He repeatedly asserted, “It will be difficult to hold a general election unless there is a change by the emperor, that is, a major change that accomplishes something that no one has done yet.”
Previously, in another article, Mayor Hong criticized, “Are those who criticize a former bribery convict and former chairman of the Democratic Party emergency committee as the chairman of the emergency committee for a year saying that the political party is not from the mainstream, are doing a comedy parade?”
At the same time, he pointed out, “Seeing them making a fuss about whether or not they should bring in someone with experience and major election experience at a desperate time because it does not suit their own interests, it seems like they are still less urgent.”
