Daedalic Entertainment has released a new trailer for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum game, which is set to be released in 2022. The new video shows elements of the gameplay and also features various locations and characters, such as Gandalf.
More images of the character Gollum of Sméagol can be seen in the trailer, in particular how he climbs, sneaks and jumps through and over terrain in all kinds of different locations. Developer Deadalic describes The Lord of the Rings: Gollum as a cinematic action-adventure game in which stealth and parkour are dominant gameplay elements.
Several locations known from the movies and books are featured in the trailer, such as Mirkwood, but in the game players will also visit lesser-known places with Gollum. The video also features some key characters from the story, such as the wizard Gandalf, the elven king Thranduil, and the Lieutenant of Barad-dûr, better known as the Mouth of Sauron.
Players take on the role of Gollum and experience the story and adventures from his perspective. The game will not only feature familiar events from Tolkien’s books, but will also fill in gaps in his storyline. It will mainly be about sneaking up on opponents and not attracting too much attention, as Gollum, according to a earlier look from Eurogamer on the pre-alpha version is worth little in combat.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will be released in Q3 2022 for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series consoles, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Nintendo Switch.
