Daedalic Entertainment Releases Patch to Address Bugs and Issues in The Lord of the Rings: Gollum

Daedalic Entertainment has released a new patch for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, which addresses a whole bunch of bugs and issues that have plagued the game since its release.

Granted, this patch isn’t meant to fix more fundamental and systemic issues with the game, but if there’s a bug affecting your game, check out the patch notes below to see if it’s been fixed.


Adjusted DLSS default mode from Off to Auto to prevent stuttering and performance issues when using RTX without DLSS.
Fixed a low reproducibility bug where some environments might be missing.
Fixed an issue where quest markers could disappear after continuing from the main menu.
Fixed interactable objects becoming non-interactive after restarting.
Fixed bugs in the checkpoint system to improve title stability and clean up annoying game bugs

Fixed birds losing their player-chosen color in breeding quests.
Fixed an issue where the bells in “Thranduil’s Halls – Cellars” were placed before the player placed them.
Resolved a glitchy interactive object in “Thranduil’s Halls – Vault”.
Fixed a conditional blocker that would cause Gollum to die if restarted during a Beetle conflict.
Fixed unresponsiveness where the pause menu overlapped the game over screen.
Fixed an issue with losing mouse focus when opening settings.
Fixed blockers in Tower of Light where guards could see the player after spawning.
Increased the chase radius of the Cruel Woman chase to prevent savegames where the player can no longer keep up.
Fixed camera lockup in the shopping cart sequence in “The Sewers”.
Improved bird training spy missions and morning visits, several bug fixes.
Fixed missing environment issues in Tower of Light.
The fixed gear spins in a random direction.
Fixed nervous hand achievement behavior.
Adjusted DLSS mode and clarity when loading saves from previous versions.
Fixed a background sequence that caused blocking behavior in the sewers.
General fixes for background sequences.
Fixed the game over screen in the tutorial when restarting from the main menu during the chase sequence.
Fixed a bypass that could cause a blockage in Tower of Light Day 6.
Fixed softlock in Shadow Mountains when jumping off a cliff at a checkpoint.
Added required checkpoint in Town Hall Low Day 1.
Fixed glitch trigger in Day 3 of Beast Pit.
Fixed an issue where the menu became unresponsive after exiting the Gamma settings.
Fixed an issue with unloading sub-levels in the Black Pit Car quest.
Halls of Grond & Execution Chambers – Fixed and adjusted rotating wheels.
Fixed extra camera shake.
Grunt Groom is now correctly covered by translucency, while still respecting DOF and refraction.
Fixed possibility to end the sewers without killing both orcs.
Fixed some localization issues.
Fixed excessive camera rotation during frame drops.
Fixed an issue where there was no sound during Cook’s death cutscene.
Fixed Kingsgrove missing sub-levels at the start of the Escape Orc quest.
Fixed an issue with the tutorial checkpoint in the chase mission.
Fixed German conflicting menu options appearing in French.
Fixed several VO subtitle inconsistencies.
Fixed pause menu glitch after initial game load.
Refreshed Gollum’s animation state when being pushed by another character in crouch mode.
Added missing “Keep” to food tutorials in German and Traditional and Simplified Chinese.
Fixed a blocker in Day 2 of Mines where the environment would unload before reaching the 3rd tunnel.
Removed superfluous collectibles for ending levels.
Fixed unresponsive puzzle doors outside the ruins when loading from the main menu.
Fixed blocked progress after throttling tutorial when restarting from checkpoint.
Fixed the floating Gollum at the beginning of Chapter 2.
Fixed softlocks in Outer Gardens where Gollum would be detected immediately after spawning.
Fixed an issue where Gollum remained in shadow form even after exiting the shadow volume.
Fixed softlock in “Queen’s Cascade” to avoid quest dialog when loading a checkpoint.
Fixed missing mel blob VFX when loading a checkpoint.
Fixed missing Glashnegg Lanterns when loading checkpoints in Shelob’s Lair.
Fixed unresponsive map/favorite screens on spam open/close buttons.
Improved NPC navigation around Gollum.
Fixed conditional blocker when returning from a fog door.
King’s Grove – Fixed incorrect quest markers when loading checkpoints.
Fixed wrong spawn location, orientation and missing quest markers for certain checkpoints in the ending.
Fixed wall run not always triggering correctly.
River Road Fixed an issue with invisible 2 sprites at the end of the level.
The North Tower Flying Platform room has improved visuals.
Fixed conditional blocker when spy quest NPC group couldn’t move in Breeding Hills.
Added missing intuition paths and relocated misplaced intuition paths in Riverpath.
Fixed a glitch with doorholes outside the ruins when transitioning from the main menu.
Fixed incorrect access count in cell when returning light to chef.
Fixed NPCs on Day 9 of the Tower of Light not knowing Gollum when returning from the main menu.
Fixed punctuation in Compendium of Knowledge.
Fixed an issue where input prompts were flickering.
Fixed the title remaining unresponsive when opening the pause menu when Gollum or Smeagol was selected prior to an internal debate.
Synchronous data with DLSS support, set fidelity fx2 to 0 when DLSS support is false.
Fixed north tower blockers when reloading checkpoints and trying to interact with winches.
Added missing localization files.
Fixed fluctuating grooms when the game is paused.
Fixed Inquisitor not moving or playing dialogue when reloading a checkpoint in Bird Breeding.
Fixed an unresponsive door puzzle dialog blocking issue in Ruins Outer.
Fixed an issue where Gollum was unable to climb due to falling due to stamina loss when opening the barbell.
Fixed an environment issue where King’s Garden was missing on the second visit.
Fixed misplaced damage volume in King’s Garden.
Input is discarded when the controller is disconnected.
Added an input to close the message window for a disconnected device.
Fixed bushes not restoring their state after reloading a checkpoint.
Fixed missing environments in Milkwood Chase when loading checkpoints.
Fixed a conditional blocker in Mines when restarting after picking up the last tag.
Fixed delivery bridge environment in the sewers when reloading.
Adjusted wrong Glashnegg scale in the sewers.
