Dad Charged with Aggravated Murder After Allegedly Shooting and Killing Three Sons: Bodycam Footage Released

Bodycam footage was released over the weekend, revealing the chilling moment when Ohio police arrested Chad Doerman, the suspect in the shooting and killing of his three sons. The incident occurred on June 15 at a property in Monroe Township, Ohio. Doerman, 32, has been charged with three counts of aggravated murder, according to a press release by the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office.

The police were called to the scene after receiving a distressing phone call from a woman claiming that her “babies had been shot.” Upon arrival, first responders discovered the three children lying in the yard of the home. Despite attempts at life-saving measures, all three children tragically lost their lives. The Clermont County Sheriff’s Office has not yet released the identities of the children but confirmed that they were brothers aged 3, 4, and 7.

Doerman was arraigned on June 16, and his bond was set at $20 million, the highest in county history. During the arraignment, Clermont County Prosecutor Mark Tekulve expressed his horror at the crime, stating, “This is by far the most sickening, horrifying crime I have seen. I can only imagine the terror these little boys felt and experienced as their father, their protector, was murdering them.”

Prosecutors revealed that Doerman had lined up his three children before fatally shooting them with a rifle. Court documents indicate that Doerman confessed to planning and carrying out the deaths of the victims involved for several months.

The recently released bodycam footage captured the moment when two officers approached Doerman, who was sitting outside the property. Despite repeated commands to raise his hands and walk towards them, Doerman failed to comply. The officers noticed a rifle placed next to him and proceeded to apprehend him with their guns drawn. Doerman appeared calm and did not resist being restrained. While one officer detained Doerman, the other attended to the three victims.

The sheriff’s office provided details of the initial 911 calls, stating that at 4:15 p.m. on June 15, they received a call from an unknown female screaming that her “babies had been shot.” Three minutes later, a passerby reported another call, stating that a female juvenile was seen running down the road, claiming that her father was killing everyone. This girl was later identified as Doerman’s daughter.

The mother of the three children, a 34-year-old woman whose identity has not been released, was also found with a gunshot wound to her hand, which was not believed to be life-threatening.

Keith Doerman, the suspect’s father, spoke about the incident, describing it as “just terrible.” He mentioned that his son had “snapped” and appeared hollow inside. Keith Doerman expressed uncertainty about the motive behind the crime, mentioning possible factors such as financial issues, mental health, or work-related stress. Despite his anger, he remembered his son as a “super father” and struggled to come to terms with the tragedy.
