Dacia’s Future Plans: New Minicar and Transition to Electric and Hybrid Vehicles

Dacia he has some big plans in store for the next few years. Backed by the Renault group, which was able to bring it back to life when no one believed in it, the Romanian House has grown continuously to the sound of proposals with an excellent quality-price ratio. Customers know what they’re getting into when ordering a vehicle in the relative range: a car with few frills and lots of substance, where the frills are missing in favor of lots of functionality. This will also be the case in the coming years, characterized by profound changes in the automotive world. The company’s official spokespersons have made clear their intention to focus on thermal vehicles as long as they have the opportunity. Translated: until 2035 the range will also be made up of vehicles with traditional fuel supply.

Dacia: what the new minicar will look like

On the other hand, pretending that there haven’t been any notable changes would be counterproductive. And then, as early as 2024, the ecological transition process of the product portfolio will begin to take center stage. We will see it in the Dokker, which will have its 100 percent electric traction version. In parallel, it will also come out with the hybrid engine, capable of generating a maximum power of 145 HP. The flagship of the offer will, however, be represented by the Fastback, a sport utility with an enormous passenger compartment, which can accommodate up to seven people.

The sport utility vehicle will embody the typical values of the brand, which have earned it success over the years, less oriented towards form than oriented towards substance. Ergo, the optional list will be reduced to the bone, in order to avoid compromising on cost. Dacia rhymes with accessibility and will remain so in the future. And last but not least, a minicar is in the works. Well yes, after the success achieved by Stellantis, the competitors are also thinking of engaging in battle. The Italian-French-American group opened the ball under the banner of the Citroen Ami, which proved to be a success beyond all expectations.

The little girl from beyond the Alps defeated the predictions about sales prospects, targeting the Over 14s, a segment of the public that had been ignored up to that point. Even 14-year-olds have the right to access it after obtaining an AM driving license (from 16 years of age with the carriage of a passenger). Secondly, the time has come for the Opel Rocks-e and finally the Fiat Topolino. To carve out a place for itself in the spotlight, Dacia plans to stay around the 5,000 euro threshold: will it have an equally positive response?
