Dacia, famous for budget cars, showed its electric Spring model. Currently, it is the cheapest electrician on the Polish market. Is this purchase worthwhile? Let’s take a closer look at the price, offered equipment and who it can satisfy.
The model cannot be bought yet, and Dacia is currently collecting orders for 60 special versions. The model will be available for sale in June, but almost 200 cars have already joined the Traficar fleet. The operator offers a car for minutes and you can drive it in Warsaw at first.
Dacia Spring- basic information and equipment
From April 15, a fleet of 195 electric cars from the Romanian manufacturer hit the streets of Warsaw. To borrow them, you only need the Traficar application. This is a good opportunity to check whether the purchase of Dacia Spring makes sense.
The electric Dacia Spring is a four-seater city car. It is just over 3.7 meters long and less than 1.8 meters wide. The car weighs 970 kg and offers a maximum range of 305 km. It takes almost an hour to charge it to 80%. The power is only 45 HP, and the luggage compartment offers 290 liters. Small dimensions and extremely modest power classify this model among city cars.
The basic version of Dacia Spring costs PLN 76,900, the better equipped Comfort version costs over PLN 83,000. This is much less than, for example, the Skoda Citigo-e IV, but the amount seems excessive compared to what it offers. The fact is that he is the cheapest electrician offered to Polish drivers.
Cheapest and slow city electrician, looks pretty good
Small dimensions and extremely modest power classify this model among city cars. Especially that the run up to a hundred in this car is hard to call a sprint (19 seconds).
The exterior is not the worst. The style of the Romanian manufacturer has become a permanent element of Polish streets and has found many buyers. Looking at the Dacia Spring, we have no doubts what the name of its producer is. What undoubtedly catches the eye are narrow tires on far too small 14-inch rims.
A light door evokes mixed feelings and when you open the door, you will be flooded with a sea of plastic. The downside is the lack of adjustment of the steering wheel plane, which is neither vertically nor horizontally. The driver’s seat cannot be raised, which can make life significantly more difficult.
In the advertisement, the manufacturer argues that despite the small dimensions of the exterior of Dacia Spring, there will be plenty of space in the interior. Unfortunately, in practice, it is not so rosy, which means that passengers of the rear seat above the standard height, have to count on the small dimensions of the driver. Otherwise, the ride may be painful.
The trunk makes up for other imperfections, because Spring positively surprises with a 290 l trunk, which has a much more capacity than its electric competitors.
Dacia Spring feels great in the city
The car is started with a key and instead of the gear lever you will find a knob for selecting the driving range. What deserves praise is the percentage indicator of the battery charge level visible on the clocks. You won’t find it in high-end electrics such as Audi, for example.
An undoubted advantage is the fact that you do not need to pair the phone via Bluetooth, because Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are optionally available.
The dynamics of the car is perfect for moving around the city. Maximum torque of 125Nm is always available, but be patient when overtaking. At speeds above 70 km / h, the Dacia Spring is very slow to move.
The suspension is soft and picks up bumps well. In addition, the Spring is manoeuvrable and with a turning circle of just over 9 meters, it makes everyday life much easier.
Summary
In summary, the manufacturer has prepared another budget car, which in many respects lets you know about it. It was supposed to be the cheapest electrician, and he is without a doubt.
Despite the fact that while driving and inside the car you can feel the savings of the manufacturer in the materials used, it also has its advantages. Charging the car with 81% direct current, which ensures a drive for the next 156 kilometers, takes less than an hour. You can comfortably fit 3 passengers in it and, covering short distances, you will not have time to get tired of the noise outside.
On the other hand, the price of the Dacia Spring with the Comfort option is an expense of PLN 87,400. At this price, you can buy more refined electrics from competitors, or find something in the offer of used ones. Therefore, it is definitely an ideal proposition for companies offering car rental.
If you don’t mind hard plastics and you spend little time driving around town, then this car is for you too. You get good range for a low price, and that’s what the manufacturer was about.
