Dacia Bigster will come on the market with an electronic 4×4 system and a special rear axle – Economica.net

If the design and dimensions of the future Dacia Bigster model are no longer a mystery to anyone, and the range of engines can be guessed, there are other technical details about the future model gathered at Mioveni still a well-kept secret. However, Spanish motoring journalists write that the Renault group is currently testing the “strange” Renault Captur in Andalusia.

The rear axle of this Captur hides a feature that, in their opinion, suggests a 4 × 4 system in the future that will be equipped with the Bigster model of the Dacia brand. And while it’s unclear whether this system will be available from launch or later, its details appear on the e-AWD electronic transmission.

Supporting the assumptions of the media in Spain, there are also details from journalists in France. According to them, the test carried out during this period in the Sierra Nevada region of Andalusia is the one that should show Dacia engineers how future special assemblies of the Bister will work. in extreme conditions of temperature, altitude and rough terrain. In addition, the “mule” built by the Spanish has been seen in France since 2022, and a longer rear than the “classic” Renault Captur has led to speculation about a future model with three rows of “Capture +2” sets.

The secret of the “mule” was revealed very quickly with the help of sources inside the French group who confirmed that it is a group that hides the running gear of the future Dacia Duster model. In addition, unconfirmed information has appeared about a very special rear axle. In addition to a multi-arm bridge instead of the Captur’s usual deformable cruiser, this prototype has a strange metal guard.

In this context, French journalists claim that, apparently, engineers are working on the new 4 × 4 transmission that will be used on several models of the Renault group in conjunction with the hybrid system that includes the 1.2 TCe engine. This is likely to be supplemented by e-AWD electric rear differential or, more precisely, e-4WD.

Its architecture is not very different from that of the equipment of models such as Alfa Romeo Junior or Jeep Avenger e-Hybrid 4xe. First presented on the Renault Niagara concept in 2023, this system will appear, according to information obtained by colleagues in France, on the Dacia Bigster towards the end of 2025 and then on the crossover to the internally called the C-Neo in 2026.

With a power of 150 hp, this all-wheel drive version will be available with a dual petrol – LPG fuel system and the new EDC automatic transmission. Hence the name 1.2 Eco-G 48V e-4WD EDC.

In addition to the Dacia Bigster and the crossover currently known as C-Neo, this system could be included in the Duster 3 in the future, but only after the t -current all-wheel drive system has become impossible to use due to pollution regulations that are becoming more and more strict.

The Dacia Bigster will debut in October at the Paris Motor Show, will be available to order towards the end of 2024 and will reach the first customers in 2025.
