Dacia Announces Fully Electric Sandero Model by 2027: Emphasis on Practicality and Affordable Pricing

The Romanian car manufacturer Dacia has announced that the new generation Sandero model will become a fully electric car in 2027, but it will still maintain its basic principles – emphasis on practicality and an affordable price for customers. The new Sandero will arrive in 2027 or 2028 at the latest and will be Dacia’s flagship on the road to zero-emission mobility, as revealed by the carmaker’s chairman Denis Le Vot.

The new Duster is planned for next year, but after that all Dacia models will already be built on the CMF-B platform of the Renault concern, while the electric models will use the CMF-BEV platform, which is specially designed for electric cars. This means that the electric Sandero will essentially be Dacia’s version of the upcoming Renault 5 in a few years, but Dacia’s emphasis will be on practicality. The manufacturer’s representatives indicated that they could use elements from the Sandero Stepway – increased ground clearance and better capabilities when driving off an asphalt road.

Dacia wants this model to still be affordable for the masses, which means expect slightly weaker performance. “We will choose to offer the shortest distance per charge, as well as a lower charging capacity, because we want a lower price for the customer,” says Le Vot. He notes that today many electric cars cost 35, 40 and more thousand euros.

Perhaps Dacia will choose to equip this car with a smaller capacity battery, thus reducing costs and also weight. It is clear that the Romanian car manufacturer is definitely not aiming for 500-600 kilometers on a single charge and 20-80% charge in 20 minutes. Dacia is also looking for ways to make car batteries as cheap as possible. It cannot be ruled out that the next generation Sandero will be available with an internal combustion engine. It is cheaper and such cars can be sold until 2035, but if Dacia chooses to offer such a version, it will likely use a hybrid system.
