30 migrants from “Ovcha Kupel” in Sofia will be moved to the center of the State Agency for Refugees /DAB/ in Banya. This was announced to the deputies by the director of the department, Mariana Tosheva. The information is from BTA. She explained that there are currently 47 people and free capacity in Banya.
Other persons will be transferred step by step to other centers, so that only the so-called a low body in the “Sheep’s Fountain”, where the security area is also located. Tosheva specified that the center in “Ovcha Kupel” is the oldest and is extremely depreciated, therefore the agency did everything possible to close the “big body”, since there is currently an opportunity to redirect people.
She and the resigned Minister of Internal Affairs Kalin Stoyanov answer questions regarding the incidents with migrants of recent days at the request of “Vazrazhdane” and “BSP for Bulgaria”.
The director of the agency pointed out that there is also an underfunding of the department. “We are underfunded, according to the budget forecast for this year we requested BGN 22.5 million, the approved budget for the agency is BGN 11,700 million, of which a little over BGN 7 million is for staff remuneration, i.e. the rest of the funds are used for operations,” explained Mariana Tosheva.
She admitted that last year they experienced huge difficulties, especially with the increased number of asylum seekers after June-July. In Harmanli, we had fallen to 36 employees out of nearly 1,600 residents, Tosheva pointed out.
