Yesterday, the Media Council of the Saxon State Media Authority (SLM) decided on the tender, which regulates the allocation of residual transmission capacities in the local DAB+ program platforms Chemnitz, Dresden and Freiberg as well as nationwide coverage.
Prof. Dr. Markus Heinker, President of the Media Council of the SLM: “The Media Council of the Saxon State Media Authority has cleared the way to enable Saxony to have one of the largest regional and local offers in digital radio DAB+ in a Germany-wide comparison. The large number of programs in the state-wide, the three regional and the local DAB+ multiplexes in regular operation also ensures economical operation.
For the SLM, it is an important milestone for the digitization of radio broadcasting in Saxony, since almost all commercial and non-commercial radio broadcasters already licensed via VHF in the state have opted for DAB+ with their application. In the near future – probably in the second quarter of 2023 – together with other new radio providers, they will ensure nationwide coverage of listeners in Saxony with an attractive private DAB+ program variety.”
