DAB+ in Hamburg: These are the eleven new programs | radioWEEK

Today the second private radio mux starts in Hamburg. It is broadcast from the Heinrich Hertz Tower on channel 12C. Initially, the following eleven programs will be involved:

Ostseewelle is the most listened-to private radio station in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and relies on a trendy Rural AC music mix for the core target group of 25-39. The program in Hamburg is to be supplemented by regional news. With the activation in the Hanseatic city, the station from Rostock also has commuters from West Mecklenburg in mind.

The format of Radio Bollerwagen operates as Xtreme Party Music. For example, there are party hits by Mickie Krause, Isi Glück and Peter Wackel, 90s party songs by Mr. President and the Vengaboys or party classics by AC/DC, Boney M. and Scooter. The music program is supplemented by hourly news and weather reports.

ByteFM is a music journalism program that focuses on music beyond the mainstream. The station is primarily supported by around 7,800 supporting members and is therefore free of commercials. The web radio station founded in Hamburg in 2008 has been available on VHF since the beginning of the year, and ByteFM has been broadcasting via DAB+ in Berlin since the beginning of March. The StadtMagazine runs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. in Hamburg with guests from culture and society.

Radio Nordseewelle is a regional radio station from Lower Saxony, which can be heard on FM on the North Sea coast, in East Frisia, Friesland, Wilhelmshaven and Oldenburg. Listeners in Bremen and Sylt can already receive Radio Nordseewelle via DAB+. The format of the station operates as Sunny Hot-AC, the target group is 14-49 year olds.

89.0 RTL comes from the broadcasting center in Halle, Saxony-Anhalt. The station can be heard from the Brocken in the Harz Mountains in Saxony-Anhalt and the neighboring regions on FM on the FM frequency of 89.0 MHz. The program is now expanding beyond national borders via DAB+ – to Hamburg, Thuringia and Saxony. Musically, 89.0 RTL relies on “Today’s best hits!” for the target group 14-49. With the connection in Hamburg, 89.0 RTL also has an eye on the commuters who travel to the Hanseatic city from Saxony-Anhalt every day.

The JAM FM program is created at the RTL Audio Center Berlin. The core target group of the young format are the 14-29 year olds. JAM FM wants to be “your number 1 for new music” in this age cohort and focuses on black music & dance for an urban audience.

nice
nice, which has already been available to listen to via DAB+ in Saarland for several months, relies on the “favorite music @ nice” during the day, supplemented by news. On weekday evenings there is a program with Matthias Matuschik and a mix format with DJ Jondal.

As of today, a total of 64 programs will be broadcast via DAB+ in Hamburg. Four more programs will gradually go on air in the 2nd DAB+ private radio mux in the coming months:

  • HarbourTownRadio (HarbourTown Media GmbH)
  • lounge plus (radioB2 GmbH)
  • pure fm (Funkhaus Oderturm GmbH)
  • a new program from Regiocast GmbH

Another slot is reserved for a temporary event radio, so that, for example, the harbor birthday or the Reeperbahn Festival can be accompanied accordingly.
