D66 does not want to reflect on Remkes drinking gossip | Inland

The motion was submitted by D66 member Blanca de Louw from Deventer. She argues that ‘defiling the informateur’ has nothing to do with the formation so vehemently advocated by D66 ‘along the lines of the content’. According to her, it also does not fit with the ‘new leadership’ and ‘new administrative culture’ promised by party leader Sigrid Kaag.

‘Negative spin on the person’

She calls on her party to disapprove of the ‘negative spin on the person’ and to reflect on the incident. De Louw would also like to see her party provide an explanation of the role that the information team and other supporters play within the party.

The drink gossip motion should actually be put to the vote next Saturday at the party congress in Den Bosch, but that congress has been canceled in view of the rapidly rising corona infections. The conference motions are now handled digitally during online sessions on Thursday and Friday.

If it is up to the party, the motion will not be passed. “The words were immediately – and rightly – withdrawn,” says D66. “It is also clearly stated that this is not intended. Sigrid Kaag telephoned Mr Remkes about this, discussed this at the formation table and raised it himself in the House of Representatives. This case was also discussed in the faction that is responsible for the manner of support.”
