MOn Tuesday evening, Anderlecht beat Sint-Truiden, 2-0, for the 6th day of the Belgian league. The goals of the meeting were scored by Refaelov (60th) and Ashimeru (90th + 5). This victory allows Anderlecht to climb on the podium, while awaiting the results of its competitors.
Anderlecht imposed his authority quickly in the meeting, first with a raid by Refaelov along the end line to serve Verschaeren whose sending was finally blocked (6th). Brüls responded with a one-shot strike at the top of the area (8th), but the rest of the match was almost exclusively in favor of the Mauves.
After an attempt at a volley from Kouamé (27 ‘), Anderlecht’s biggest chance of half-time came from the feet of Verschaeren. The playmaker managed to find Zirkzee in the area, who got tangled up in the brushes during a confused phase which resulted in a strike countered by Refaelov at close range (33 ‘).
The second half turned out to be much richer in clear chances. As soon as the restart, a free kick from Gomez, forgotten by the players, grazed the post of Schmidt (48th), before the latter won against a header from Verschaeren, completely isolated behind the defense by a bright center from Refaelov ( 57e). The release finally came on a header from the Israeli (1-0, 60th) at the conclusion of a brilliant collective action passed by Verscharen and Kouamé on the right.
The Anderlecht then missed countless opportunities to make the break. After a Raman raid on the left flank, Verschaeren failed to frame from the penalty spot in the empty goal (72nd). Raman put the cover back to serve Refaelov a few minutes later, but Pius won firmly on the Golden Shoe strike (74th).
In the last 10 minutes, it was Schmidt who stood out against a Verschaeren receiving a cross from Sergio Gomez, once again from the left (81st). Benito Raman thought to score the goal of the confirmation before the referee waved his flag (87th), and then missed the frame on a new duel with the goalkeeper (90th + 1). In the last moments, after a few cold sweats in their own area, the Anderlechtois offered themselves a last goal via Ashimeru, well served by Raman (2-0, 90th + 5).
In the other meeting of the evening, Kortrijk won 0-2, traveling to Ostend. The goals were scored by D’Haene, with a sharp strike from the left after a heel from Selemani (45 ‘) and Vandendriessche with a superb pigeon wing at the near post on a corner kicked by the same Selemani (63’).
In the standings, Anderlecht climbed to 3rd place with 36 points while awaiting the results of their competitors, who will play on Wednesday and Thursday. Kortrijk takes 7th place with 28 points, while Ostend, 14th with 20 points, remains 1 length behind Sint-Truiden, 13th.
