The third jersey of FC Basel 1893 for the 2024/25 season was inspired by the heraldic animal of the city of Basel. The color is based on the ubiquitous basilisk fountains and the basilisk itself is an important part of the pattern as a recurring element.

It once lived in a cave under the Gerberbrunnen fountain that was later built there in Basel, and since then the basilisk has been an integral part of Basel’s history. Now, after the wavy rays on the home and away jerseys, it adorns our latest playing kit: The heraldic animal and well-known symbol of Basel’s city history can be found on the third jersey for the 2024/25 season. Like the rays, the basilisk is intended to represent the expression of energy, strength and elegance with a historical context on the FCB third jerseys.

The design of the third jersey was also created by FCB in collaboration with fashion designer Anaïs Marti from Collective Swallow (Basel) and the graphic designers from Tristesse (Basel). In addition, the jerseys feature the back numbers and names printed in the FCB font “1893” by graphic designer and typeface designer Sylvan Lanz (Basel), which won the Swiss Design Award.
In collaboration with our supplier Macron, FC Basel 1893 has produced the official team jerseys with ECO fabrics and yarn made from polyester obtained from recycled PET and certified by Global Recycled Standard.
