D-Day: Veterans and politicians attended the ceremony marking the eightieth anniversary of the Normandy landings on Omaha Seaside. Listed here are some photographs.
A veteran hugs Zelensky
Hugs and an affectionate alternate between a veteran of the Normandy landings and the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, in the course of the celebrations for the eightieth anniversary of D-Day on Omaha Seaside. In a brief video excerpt, Zelensky is seen bending all the way down to hug one of many D-Day heroes current on the ceremony in a wheelchair. «You’re the savior of the folks, you convey tears to my eyes, says the aged gentleman who survived the Longest Day.
“No, no, you’re the one who saved Europe,” replies the Ukrainian president. “My hero,” says the opposite. And the chief of Kiev reiterates: “No, you might be our hero.”
“I pray for you,” the veteran then concludes, addressing Zelensky in English. An alternate that goes loopy on social networks precisely 80 years after the Normandy landings and whereas the warfare unleashed by Vladimir Putin’s Russia towards Ukraine continues.
