The public prosecutor’s office in Aschaffenburg has brought charges against a Catholic priest in the district of Miltenberg. She accuses the priest of sexual assault with violence.
This was confirmed by the senior public prosecutor Monika Schramm on Tuesday at the request of the German Catholic News Agency (KNA). The standard range of penalties ranges from one year to 15 years imprisonment. First, the “Main-Echo” reported on the indictment.
According to the Diocese of Würzburg, the allegations against the priest were first brought to the Church by third parties on February 11. A conversation was then held with the person concerned. On February 21, according to the diocese, it reported the case to the public prosecutor’s office. Three days later, Bishop Franz Jung initiated a preliminary investigation into canon law. The public was not informed until a month later. The public prosecutor’s office asked for this for tactical reasons.
