At the last moment of the transfer window, Raków Częstochowa announced the acquisition of two new players. They are Michael Ameyaw and Colombian Jesús Díaz.
Until Friday, September 6, 2024, 11:59 p.m., PKO Bank Polski Ekstraklasa clubs had time to make transfers in the summer window and qualify players to play in the 2024/25 season. At the end of this window, Raków announced the acquisition of two new players.
One of them is Michael Ameyaw. The 23-year-old player joined the club on a permanent transfer from Piast Gliwice. He signed a contract valid until June 30, 2029.
Ameyaw was born on September 16, 2000 in Łódź. He is 176 cm tall and is a midfielder. He played in the junior teams of UKS-U AP Żmuda Warszawa, MKS Polonia Warszawa and SEMP Ursynów. In 2018, he became a player of Widzew Łódź, from which in the spring of 2020 he was loaned for six months to Bytovia Bytów. Before the start of the 2021/2022 season, he was brought by Piast Gliwice, in whose colors he debuted in the Ekstraklasa. It took place on July 25, 2021. In the colors of Piastunek, he played 96 matches (85 in the Ekstraklasa and 11 in the Polish Cup), in which he scored 15 goals and recorded 10 assists.
– With the arrival of Michael, we are acquiring a fast player who fits our DNA with his great motor skills. He is dangerous thanks to his dribbling and finishing. We are not only buying a Polish player, but also a player who is mentally strong and has a great desire to develop and take the next steps in our team. We are looking forward to his performances in Raków – emphasizes Sports Director Samuel Cárdenas.
The second new player at Raków is Jesús Díaz. The 25-year-old, originally from Colombia, joined the Częstochowa team on loan from Stal Rzeszów until the end of the 2024/2025 season with an option to buy.
Díaz was born on May 21, 1999 in Monteria. He is 183 cm tall and plays as a midfielder. He began his career in his native clubs Cortuluá FC and Tigres FC. In 2021, he joined Venezuelan Atlético El Vigía FC. In the spring of 2022, he became a player of Cosmos Nowotaniec, from which Stal Rzeszów brought him in 2023. He played 38 matches for the club from the capital of Podkarpacie (35 in the 1st League and 3 in the Polish Cup), in which he scored 7 goals.
– Jesús stands out for his speed, dynamism and diversity in attack. He combines strength with excellent dribbling, cunning and creating a threat in the opponent’s penalty area. He has come a long way to reach our level, from Colombia, through playing in Poland at amateur level and transferring to Stal Rzeszów. He will of course need some time to adapt and learn our system and the intensity that we will need from him. We are positive about his future and we can’t wait to see him on the pitch in our colours – sums up Samuel Cárdenas, Sports Director of Raków.
