Croatia is relaxing measures against the spread of coronavirus. From Friday, you can eat inside the restaurants, which were completely closed at that time last year. The operators of restaurants and bars are grateful for the relaxation. However, they do not expect a season like before the pandemic.
The dismantling of anti-epidemic measures does not yet apply to nightlife. Restaurants close at 23:00 and alcohol is not allowed until 06:00. Wearing drapes is mandatory only indoors, including public transport.
“Only people with a negative test, confirmation of vaccination or illness should come inside the restaurant. But we cannot control it and at the same time provide the service that people came for,” said the owner of one of Split’s restaurants, Josip Čulić.
According to him, the prices for services are approximately the same as in 2018 or 2019. “Last year the season was weird, we started in mid-July and basically after a month it was over. This year it may be different, but we all wait and we don’t know. the days of restrictions have eased a bit and we can have music outside for the first time, “added Čulić.
According to the manager of the bar on the beach Zlatni rat on the island of Brač, this season will probably be weaker than in the period before the pandemic. “The best season was 2019, last year sales fell by half and we also halved the number of employees. This year it may be a little better, but certainly not nearly as much as in 2019. Prices for food and drink will remain the same, it’s not for we are absolutely ideal, but we want to attract tourists, “he said.
While the beach was half empty on the weekend due to the windy weather, the tourism in Split is already known. “It’s been like this for the last few days, I’m excited. I work as a guide and last year I had about 15 tours of the city, I usually have them six to seven months every day. This year will not be normal, there aren’t that many trips yet, but hopefully it will be significantly better than last year, “said Vjeran Milačić.
Czechs are happy to pay extra
Croatia remains a top destination for Čedok clients who travel by car. “Compared to last year, we already know that a third more Czechs will go there. There is great interest in the Makarska Riviera by default. Croatia has always had a clientele that will return there, and it is a different clientele than those that fly to Turkey, for example. The trend of recent years is that Czechs also pay extra for holidays in Croatia, choose more luxurious hotels or well-equipped apartments and do not go to camps with a car full of food, “said Eva Němečková, a spokeswoman for Čedok. According to her, tour prices are the same as last year.
Croatia has also been ranking sixth in popularity with the Invia travel agency for a long time. “Czechs are most often interested in an eight-day trip by car to a three-star hotel with half board. Istria leads from the localities, followed by Makarska and Porec.
As in previous years, two consular offices by the sea will help Czech tourists in Croatia this season as well. After last year’s break, Czech police officers will once again work in the Adriatic.
