Due to the uncertain ski season, many people have been delaying the purchase of ski equipment this year. On Friday, however, the Minister of Health Jan Blatný (for YES) gave the ski resorts the green light, the slopes will open on 18 December. Ski equipment sellers hardly stopped on Saturday.
“Because we opened a fortnight and the number of customers on the premises is limited, the declines are in the millions. We solved it with a reservation system at the entrance. That means who wants to come here, they have to book online on our website, “Jaromír Fic, the executive of the Lyžebraní store, described the situation.
Due to concerns about what this year’s ski season will look like, many people have decided to invest in equipment for ski mountaineering and cross-country skiing. “The situation has also affected the structure of sales in such a way that there is far more interest in cross-country and ski alps,” Fic added.
“I don’t know what it will look like with this season, so I would like to try alpine skiing,” said one respondent.
Due to fears that the stocked equipment could be sold, they are already selling goods at discounts somewhere. “The skis are ordered a year in advance, so we have a lot of goods and the discounts started in fact during Black Friday,” added Petr Křivánek, Happy Sport’s operations director.
At the same time, new ski models usually become cheaper after the New Year.
