The Czechs were supposed to enter the qualification earlier, but the initial double match with the Faroe Islands was postponed twice due to coronavirus. On Sunday, the national team in Brno will again welcome Russia in retaliation, to which it lost in Moscow on Wednesday just after 27:28.
The Czech team currently ranks third in the four-member group by one point behind the second Ukraine, which has one more match to its credit. From each group, the first two teams will advance to the championships in Hungary and Slovakia next year and will be joined by the best four from third places.

The Czech team lacks five players from German competitions at the beginning of the qualification due to the coronavirus situation. Only 14 players traveled to Russia on Wednesday, today the team was joined by Jurka and Kašpárek, who did not spend much time on the field due to hand problems.
The favored home team had the match with the outsider firmly under control from the beginning in front of the empty hall in Brno, where due to the covid-19 they could not. Pivot Jan Užek did well, with the best scorer of the match with six goals.
Trtík’s charges quickly created a four-goal state and maintained the lead throughout the first half. The Faeroes, who had never started a big event before, reduced by three goals in the 24th minute, but the last five minutes before the break belonged to the Czechs. After a string of three goals, the home team went to the cabins with a comfortable half lead of 14: 8.

In the 36th minute after the break, the returnee to the Jurek team increased to 18:10. The guests then took advantage of a few minutes of attenuation of the Czech team and reduced the difference to five goals. However, the home team quickly took over and decided with a series of four goals. In the 57th minute, Číp sent the national team to the lead by 10 goals and the Faeroes in the very end only slightly corrected the situation.
Trtík, who already led the national team from 2002 to 2005, took over the team from coaches Jan Filip and Daniel Kubeš after the January end. Both coaches were dismissed by a close majority of the federal executive after the representatives renounced their participation in the World Cup in Egypt at the last minute due to a coronavirus infection in the team.
