“The second mistake was at the end of the first half. We led by five goals, then we did not score and let them return to the match. We started at the second half at zero and that was probably decisive,” added the Czech coach, whose trustee won only one from the last 10 matches.

The Czech team took the lead three times after the break, but the end was already managed by a better visiting team. In the 40th minute, the Croatians took the lead for the first time since the very beginning of the match, and in the following ten minutes they bounced back by a difference of four goals.

The Czechs were then kept several times in the game by good interventions by goalkeeper Mučková, who replaced the number one Kudláčková among the sticks. In the attack, however, the home team stopped doing well and Blaževičová’s shot in the penultimate minute decided definitively.

The Czechs competed in four of the last five European Championships and were absent from the Continental Championships three times in a row. Their maximum is two eighth places from 1994 and 2002. In December, Bašný’s trustee will perform at the world championships.
