Her opponent for the 2nd round, Yulia Putintseva of Kazakhstan, withdrew from the tournament after her opening win over Daria Saville of Australia.
The 33-year-old Kvitová presented herself in China for the first time since the unsuccessful US Open.
In the first round, the two-time Wimbledon winner defeated German qualifier Anna-Lena Friedsam 7:6 and 6:1.
Eighteen-year-old Linda Fruhvirtová also advanced to the 2nd round in Ning-po thanks to her opponent’s scratch.
