Czech Television Scandal: Uncovering the Truth and Misconduct

In recent years, among the employees of Czech Television, especially among the presenters, a feeling has developed that they are the ones who have the patent on the truth and that they must also defend their view of the world at all costs.

It has gone too far

They did not care at all that they work in public television, which should take care of balance and neutrality, which would assume that they will present different opinions to the public. However, this did not happen for a long time, especially during Petr Dvořák’s tenure as director. Then it is not surprising that many viewers lost any relationship with CT and refused to watch it. On the contrary, more and more people tend to limit themselves to it, which is not necessarily optimal.

However, this environment apparently also created the foundations for very problematic relationships in the workplace, as the stars of television felt literally untouchable and, moreover, considered someone who was very important and irreplaceable.

Everything escalated the year before last, when really disturbing information about the behavior of Mark Wollner and Nora Fridrichová towards their subordinates surfaced. However, under the old management, Czech Television swept it all under the carpet, and although it set up an investigative commission, it did not release anything from them to the public.

Problematic situations

However, when the new director Jan Souček took office, he immediately familiarized himself with the commission’s conclusions and, at least to some extent, also informed the public about what was happening there.

As for the team of ČT Reporters and Mark Wollner, I must say that the protocols contain descriptions of situations that I have never encountered in my 30 years of career in the media and that I consider unacceptable.” informed the server about the words of the director Borovan.cz.

The next culprit, Nora Fridrichová, was literally close to it, because in her case there was still another chance if she started behaving normally and handing in objective work. This was a problem for her for a long time, as she filmed more and more tendentious reports. However, it has really improved lately, so she apparently decided to “chop the Latin” so to speak.
