In their relatively short history, the two countries have met only three times. The first time was at the world championship in Prague in 2004. At that time, the Czech Republic beat Kazakhstan by a ratio of 7:0. Martin Ručinský scored a hat trick, Petr Průcha contributed two goals, Jaromír Jágr and David Výborný added one goal each. The Czech Republic was then eliminated in the quarter-final match against the USA.

A year later, the two teams met in the World Cup in Vienna, again in group matches. For the Czechs, the match ended unexpectedly with a narrow 1:0 win. Aleš Hemský scored the only goal of the match in the second period.

The third and so far the last match between them was again the match in the regular part of the World Cup in 2016. The Czech Republic defeated Kazakhstan with a ratio of 3:1, thanks to Tomáš Plekac and a goal by Robert Kousal. In this match, the Kazakhs scored the only goal against the Czech team in the history of mutual balance at the world championships.

The most valuable position in the history of the Kazakh national team at the World Cup is the 10th place from 2021. At the Olympic Games, the Kazakhs made their debut in 1998 in Nagano, when they surprisingly dominated the group. They were not so successful in the subsequent fights and finished in the final 8th place. In their second and so far last participation in the Olympic Games in 2006, they took 9th place.
