The Finns had an ideal start to the match when they led 2-0 in the 8th minute after goals from Kumpulainen and Nyman. The Czechs reacted by changing the goalkeepers, when Hrabal was replaced by Vondraš. The first period continued to belong to the Finns, but Vondraš held back the Czechs several times. In the 17th minute, the Czechs got to the first power play, in which captain Kulich made it 1:2.

The Finns also fought for the second weakness and after Štancl’s goal in the 29th minute it was even – 2:2. However, this situation lasted only 15 seconds, when Helenius returned the narrow lead to the Finns, and in the next 19 seconds, the northerners were leading by two goals after Hämeenah’s accurate strike – 2:4. When the same player made it 2-5 after an individual action in the power play, it seemed that the winner was decided.

At the end of the second period, Becher gave hope to the Czechs with a goal to make it 3:5, and Kulich also used his team’s third power play in the 45th minute – 4:5. In the end, the Czechs exerted pressure during the game without a goalkeeper, and although Kulich’s shot did not hit too well, Becher equalized from the subsequent stop – 5:5. The shocked Finns did not manage the next substitution, defender Hamara was allowed to shoot from the blue line, which goalkeeper Kokko did not reach – 6:5. In an effort to equalize, the Finns decided to play without a goalkeeper, but in it Rymon and Becher, who completed a hat trick, made the final score 8:5.
