Czech Railways has expanded the My Train application with the possibility of purchasing SMS tickets for public transport

The novelty is to save passengers time in finding tickets at the destination.

Czech Railways has expanded the My Train application with another function that is intended to make it easier for passengers to use public transport. Thanks to the latest update, they will simply purchase SMS tickets for public transport in sixteen Czech, Moravian and Silesian cities.

Tickets for public transport (MHD) can be purchased in the newly created e-shop section. They are available for the cities of Brno, České Budějovice, Hradec Králové, Cheb, Karlovy Vary, Liberec, Olomouc, Ostrava, Pardubice, Plzeň, Prague, Sokolov, Tábor, Ústí nad Labem, Zlín and Otrokovice. Obtaining a public transport ticket is also possible in the information about the train detail and in a special notification that the user receives before arriving at the destination station.

The application prepares an SMS message to order a public transport ticket. They will compile the correct shape according to the selected city and type of ticket and also pre-fill in the phone number. The passenger will then send himself an SMS order for a public transport ticket from his phone and will receive a public transport ticket in the format of an SMS message within approximately 2 minutes. The price for the service and for the public transport ticket is then charged to the passenger’s phone bill. To use this service, you need to have a number with a Czech mobile operator and at the same time have activated premium services with it.

Save time for passengers

“We are constantly developing our mobile application and we try to make travel as easy as possible for our customers. Thanks to the new update, we will make it easier for passengers to take the so-called first and last miles, ie most often to travel from home to the station and further from the train to the destination where it is necessary to travel by public transport,“Says Jiří Ješeta, Member of the Board of Directors and Deputy General Manager for Trade.

According to him, the application will save customers the time they would spend searching for a ticket. “In the future, we plan to further expand the mobile application and offer passengers new check-in options for ‘city’ tickets,“Ješeta added.

In addition to the actual check-in with SMS tickets, the My Train application has another function for traveling by public transport. In the detail of the stations, in addition to train connections, it also shows the departures of public transport connections and possibly also buses.
