In his speech, Fiala announced the Czech Republic’s five-year plan to reduce its dependence on Russian natural gas and oil, as well as the allocation of about 2.6 billion euros to compensate for high energy costs.
The new strategy envisages that the most important power plants in the Czech Republic will be placed under full state control, Fiala said. The state currently owns about 70% of the energy group and the nuclear power plant operator ČEZ, while the rest of the company is owned by minority shareholders.
