Passengers of the Czech Railways decided that the trains produced for this carrier by Pesa Bydgoszcz will be called RegioFox, informed Piotr Mazurek, an expert on strategic projects and communication at the factory on Wednesday.
Currently, the vehicles are being tested on the test track in Velim in the Czech Republic and in the climatic chamber in Austria.
76 RegioFoxes
Czech Railways has already ordered 76 RegioFox. The trains are powered by ecological Rolls-Royce engines, which, in addition to conventional diesel, can be powered by HVO biofuel.
The modern multiple units have a spacious interior with 115 seats, including nine in 1st class. They are equipped with, among others: air conditioning, 220V and USB sockets for charging mobile devices, Wi-Fi, a vacuum toilet with a changing table, internal and external LED lighting, a modern passenger information system with monitors, monitoring and communication systems.
The vehicles have space for eight bicycles, three prams and two wheelchairs. RegioFoxy, meeting the latest European ETCS standards, can move at a maximum speed of 120 km/h.

“The fox is a fast and clever animal and I am glad that RegioFox will offer passengers many smart solutions and maximum comfort. The new name was chosen by our passengers in a survey on social networks. We have already ordered 76 such units. It is not without significance that the vehicles are equipped with state-of-the-art, low-emission, eco-friendly Rolls-Royce engines that meet Stage V emission limits,” emphasized Michal Krapinec, President and CEO of Czech Railways, quoted in the release.
The president of Krapinec added that the commencement of the observed operation and rides with passengers is planned in the second half of the year.
The first vehicles will hit the tracks in Prague and the Central Bohemian and South Bohemian regions. Further RegioFoxes will carry passengers in the regions of Pardubice, Hradec Kralove, Plzeň and Vysocina.
Pesa contract with a total value of PLN 2.5 billion
Pesa signed a contract for the supply of 847 multiple units to Czech Railways in February 2022. The framework agreement assumes an order for up to 160 vehicles with a total value of PLN 2.5 billion. To date, Czech Railways has ordered 76 RegioFoxes.
The first multiple units delivered by Pesa to the Czech Republic were named RegioShark years ago. (PAP)
