Czech Nightingale Gala Incident: Singer Jan Bendigo’s Flour Covering Staged, Police Investigate

The incident at the gala evening of the Czech Nightingale was staged. The covering of singer Jan Bendigo with flour was arranged in advance, the police informed on Thursday. Initially, there was talk of an attack with racist undertones specifically against Bendigo. Both he and the man with whom he acted in front of journalists on the red carpet now face a fine of up to 50,000 crowns.

“Criminalists from the Department of Extremism and Terrorism investigated the incident on the Czech nightingale and found that both participants had colluded. For that reason, the crime did not happen and the whole case was postponed,” said pro iDNES.cz Prague police spokesman Richard Hrdina.

“However, all actors are suspected of having committed the offense of misrepresentation and the matter will be referred to the relevant administrative authority for investigation. They face a fine of up to 50,000,” he added.

Bendigo’s manager and partner Lukáš Rejmon rejected the matter for the show Showtime television Prima to comment, but he was surprised that the incident should be staged. It was Rejmon who was with Bendigo on the red carpet when the staged event took place.

The singer in a shiny silver suit was sprinkled with flour by a man last November when he arrived at the Czech Nightingale gala. He immediately ran away after the incident.

Bendig subsequently commented that it “totally broke him for a while after the incident”. And a number of Czech celebrities supported him.

The man later turned himself in to the police. At the same time, he recorded a message on the Instagram social network under the name Lukáš Procházka. According to his words, he wanted to protest against Český slavík and point out the weak security of the evening. It is said that the prepared “protest” was not aimed specifically at Bendigo, the singer was simply the first on the scene.

But there was immediate speculation that the whole incident could have been recorded in a similar way to the American star Kim Kardashian being covered in flour in 2012 at the launch of her perfume. But Bendig emphatically refused such a thing.

“You are the victim and people want to make you the culprit. It is necessary to say once and for all that I did not prepare anything, and I don’t think I even need to make myself so stupidly visible. I really don’t need such negative advertising,” he said in a November interview for CNN Prima News.
