Twenty-seven-year-old Zohorna, whose club season ended on Thursday night after the Toronto Marlies were eliminated in the AHL playoffs, is the second substitute for the Lukáš Sedlák – Filip Chytil duo. Both ended prematurely at the WC due to injury. Radan Lenc, who was called up by the coaches as well, already started on Saturday against Norway (2:0).

“Radim should land in Riga after one o’clock in the afternoon (12.00 CEST) and we believe that he will play in the evening. If he is ready, he will definitely start. I am not afraid that he will have problems with jet lag.” said the assistant coach of the Czech Republic, Libor Zábranský, according to the sport.cz portal.

Zohorna has NHL experience, starting this season in Calgary and finishing it in Toronto. He scored one goal in ten games for the Flames and Maple Leafs respectively. He played another 58 duels in the farm AHL, where he scored 37 points (12+25).
