Cruel news hit the hockey scene in the Czech Republic. Goalkeeper Michal Turek (†35), who lost his battle with cancer, died at the end of April. The young goalkeeper also left behind two small children.
Information about Michal’s death was brought by the team HC Slovan Moravská Třebová, in which the hockey player previously worked. “Michal Turek alias TURKYS. The goalkeeper who successfully defended the goal of our A team from the 2015/2016 season to the 2019/2020 season. Unfortunately, he had to end his career for health reasons,” it was at the beginning of the announcement.
“During his tenure, he led HC Slovan to three titles as the number one goalkeeper!” reminded the club. Unfortunately, he will never enjoy the next one even as a spectator. “He died after a long and difficult illness at the age of 35,” Slovan reported.
According to a post published on social networks by the Unič ice hockey club, whose colors Michal previously also defended, the goalkeeper lost his life due to leukemia.
The team also revealed a parte from which it is clear that the last farewell to the deceased goalkeeper will take place on May 7 in the Olomouc crematorium. Michal left behind his wife Adéla and children Agátka and Ríša.
