ST. LOUIS – Czech hockey forward Jakub Vrána returned from the farm in Springfield from the lower AHL to the first team of St. Louis.

The 27-year-old student of Letňa Prague and the winner of the 2018 Stanley Cup with Washington played seven games for the Thunderbirds and scored four goals and the same number of assists. The Blues hosted Vancouver at home on Friday night, but Vrána has not yet played in the game.

Vrána scored two goals and four assists in 19 games in the NHL this year, but he was not included in the lineup several times and remained only on the stand as a healthy substitute. St. Louis acquired Vrana from Detroit last March in exchange for Dylan McLaughlin and a 2025 seventh-round draft pick. Vrana’s three-year contract for a total of $15.75 million will expire this year.

Vrana played only five games for Detroit last season with a record of one goal and one assist. After two October duels, he joined the assistance program of the NHL and the players’ association NHLPA, which helps hockey players and their families in case of psychological problems, addictions and other matters. Then he also worked at the Red Wings farm in Grand Rapids in the AHL. After leaving for St. Louis managed 20 meetings and 14 points (10+4) by the end of the year.

The bronze medalist from the previous year’s world championships in Tampere and Helsinki was chosen by Washington as the thirteenth pick in the 2014 draft. He played 365 games in the NHL and collected 209 points for 110 goals and 99 assists. In 38 playoff matches, he scored three goals and assisted five.
