Details: As part of a mass action that will take place on February 22, they will organize protest marches to border crossings, where they will meet colleagues from other countries.

Even before this, some farmers on Monday, February 19, are going to go with heavy equipment to Prague, where they want to block the highway.

According to the press secretary of the Agrarian Chamber, Barbora Pankova, it is impossible to predict how many tractors and other heavy equipment will go to the border. “We cannot rule out that border crossings and roads will be blocked,” she said.

Representatives of agricultural organizations from Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Lithuania and Latvia discussed issues related to EU policies and their impact on agriculture with European Commissioner for Agriculture Janusz Wojciechowski on Monday and Tuesday.

They submitted their demands to the European Commissioner. We are talking about compensation for farmers for complying with new environmental rules, ease of bureaucracy and transparency of the subsidy system, as well as better regulation of Ukrainian products heading to the EU market.

“Only by jointly coordinating our demands and taking joint action do we have a chance to draw attention to the desperate situation that European agriculture is currently in and put pressure on European and Czech politicians,” said Jan Doležal, president of the Czech Chamber of Agriculture.

According to him, if the European Commission does not present a plan to solve these problems, actions at border crossings may be repeated.

Polish farmers warned on Tuesday that All border crossings will be blocked on February 20 between Poland and Ukraine, as well as access roads to railway transshipment stations and seaports.
