Slovakian hockey strikers Andrej Kudrna and Matúš Sukeľ have extended their partnership with Czech non-league club HC Verva Litvínov by two years. As the “chemists” reported on their official website on Christmas Day, they signed a contract with head coach Karl Mlejnek for next season with the possibility of an extension for another year.
26-year-old Sukeľ is the team captain and 31-year-old Kudrna is the top goalscorer in the entire competition.
“I am happy to have extended my contract. I believe that with my performances I will help the team achieve the best possible results in this and in the coming seasons.” told the club’s website Sukeľ, who scored 7 goals and added 9 assists in 30 matches of the 2022/2023 season.
“His drive, attitude and determination to work towards the success of the team is exemplary. I think it is important that the club has also agreed a contract with the current captain to maintain continuity in this position.” said coach Mlejnek about the Liptovský native Mikuláš.
“I’m happy about the contract extension. My family and I are happy here and I’m looking forward to continuing at the club. We have a good team in the dressing room and I hope we continue to do well. We will do everything to be successful and bring the joy of hockey to the fans”, said Kudrna, scorer of 16 goals and 19 points in 30 games.
“Andrej is having an excellent season, he is a great asset to the team in all game situations. He is still in his prime and we believe he will continue to confirm his high performances.” said the coach about Novozámčan.
“The continuation of Matúš and Andrej is very important for the future of the team and the club. I’m really happy that we have agreed contracts with these players.” said HC Verva Litvínova CEO Pavel Hynek.
The “Chemics” are currently on a four-game winning streak in the extra league, after 30 games they have 39 points and are in 11th place in the league of 14 members. Sukeľ and Kudrna have been working in the organization since the beginning of last season.
