“Czech Eurovision Viewers Question Jury’s 12 Points to Ukraine’s Tvorchi Performance”

Another year of the Eurovision music contest has ended. Swedish singer Loreen won, for the second time. However, some Czech viewers were surprised that the sixth place was the Ukrainian duo Tvorchi. Because according to them, their performance did not deserve it. Nevertheless, it received twelve points from the audience in the Czech Republic and from the Czech jury as well. Questions arose as to whether the jury was the Czech government or whether it had an assignment from it. And also insults and suspicions that the votes from the Czech Republic came mainly from Ukrainians.

The international music competition Eurovision ended at the weekend. Swedish singer Loreen won with 583 points, of which 243 came from the audience and 340 from the jury. She was followed by Finn Käärijä, who was famous for his bright green sleeves and had 526 points, most of them (376) from the audience, unlike the winner, who received “only” 150 points from the jury.

The Czech group Vesna finished tenth, receiving most of the points from the jury. Australia, Estonia, Italy or Ukraine were placed in front of it, for example. It was Ukraine that belonged more to the audience’s favorites than to the jury’s darlings. Of her 243 points, 189 were from the audience, 54 from the jury. And the biggest fan in the jury was the Czech Republic, which gave Ukraine all 12 points. Let’s add, however, that Ukraine also received 12 points from the Czech audience.

Then there were complaints about the taste of the judges and the audience. “Czech Republic sent 12 points to Ukraine, one of the worst performances, like this is a shame, even the Poles didn’t do it. Moreover, it was announced by Radka Rosická, nothing against her, but why wasn’t Adam Mišík, who moderated the Czech final, there?!” commented journalist Barbora Koukalová.

Because of this, Trabant traveler and insect eater Daniel Přibáň embarked on it. “Kokotina na entou, the worst performance, superb, the Ukrainian played the keyboard and the Nigerian sang, the worst performance of the evening,” she added the song Heart Of Steel with the fact that the Czech Republic’s vote for Ukraine in Eurovision was a complete embarrassment.

Koukalová was not alone in thinking that the song by the music group Tvorchi did not deserve so many points from the Czech Republic. “Agreed, we were perhaps the only country that gave Ukraine 12 points. It’s a real shame, we’re already crazy about politics,” was heard in the discussion below the post.

“I am for all support, especially military support, because an occupied country must defend itself. But this is a scumbag and unworthy of Ukraine,” added Hana Eva Doupovcová, a supporter of Ukraine. However, Jakub Žák thinks that the votes of the viewers were influenced by the Ukrainian diaspora: “That’s nonsense, Czechs historically don’t watch Eurovision that much, and hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians here have Czech SIM cards, so they sent it there.”

Voices against favoring Ukraine were also heard elsewhere. “Our ‘objectivity and impartiality’ was shown in all its glory when I gave 12 points to Ukraine, which was rather average and in my opinion did not deserve the most points. This step beautifully illustrates the preference of Ukraine over anyone of better quality, which should not happen in a TV show,” said Radek Paletak.

“Who were you on our expert jury, please? Pavel, Fiala, Austrian, Černochová and Pekarová? That would match the rating. We would be fine with pandering… it’s disgusting,” Lenka Doležalová commented on the one-sided support.

“It’s such a shame. The mob psychosis with Ukraine, which had the worst song of all, has gone beyond the limit. Politics don’t belong in art, you bastards,” one viewer tweeted. “And the Czech Republic, as the only European country, had to undercut UA for 12 points,” said another.

“It’s logical when there are so many Ukrainians in our country, but I rather don’t understand our jury, because that song isn’t much,” Tomáš Reis commented on the audience vote. “I wonder why Ukraine in particular. The song really wasn’t much. They were better there,” asked Pavel Dragoun. Adis Šaranović even asked the Czech jury if they were deaf for voting this way. Others speculated whether the jury had an assignment from the Czech government.
