The attractive clash between two Czech tennis players ended in victory for Marie Bouzková. In the opening round of the Indian Wells tournament qualification, Linda Fruhvirt defeated 6: 0 and 7: 5.
Bouzková entered the match with her 16-year-old opponent very well. In 35 minutes, she gave her a “canary” when she used all three of her breakballs. On the contrary, Fruhvirt did not change either of her two options to take service from the compatriots.
The second set was much more balanced. Bouzková, the 97th woman in the WTA rankings, her opponent, who is almost two hundred places lower in the ranking, took the first place again and led 2: 1, but then she lost them herself.
At 5: 4, Fruhvirtová even had two sets on her back, but Bouzková turned them both away, equalized to 5: 5, then she beat her opponent and delivered the duel after an hour and 33 minutes, the first match match was enough for her.
Twenty-three-year-old Bouzkova, who finished in the quarterfinals in Monterrey, Mexico last week, continues to compete in the event, known as the “fifth grand slam”. Her next rival in the fight for the main stage of the California tournament will be the Frenchwoman Chloe Pacquet, who is only nine places behind the Prague native.
