Czech Car of the Year BMW i4 through the eyes of Honza Koubek

But you know what? We don’t really need to talk about the bow anymore, if it really bothers you, you can’t do anything about it, if you’re indecisive, just order the car in dark paint and with a black package. Personally, I’ve gotten used to that ancestor, and even if I won’t say that the Bavarian is beautiful with it, I don’t think it’s scary at all. However, he is still being talked about, which can be a success in itself.

Of course, there is also talk of the fact that this electric i4 beat all other internal combustion cars. Some debaters accused the judges of being bribed or perhaps condescending to “Brussels”, under the article about the results of the Car of the Year poll, conspiracy theories abounded.

I myself did not put the BMW i4 in first place, but only in third place, but there are many judges and most of them simply awarded a few more points to the electric Bavarian. I borrowed a stronger version of it to see if it really deserves its title.

The battery with a usable capacity of 80.7 kWh means a problem-free operating radius of at least 400 km even during very brisk driving, around 500 km during calmer driving. It also means 550kg on top, but because it’s bolted to the floor platform, it also means a 34mm lower center of gravity and a 15% increase in platform torsional stiffness.

Well, since you have two synchronous electric motors with a total output of 544 hp and a torque of 795 Nm, you won’t even feel the extra half ton when you start. Of course, you will feel it a little in corners, but thanks to the low center of gravity, it is not such a major problem. In short, the BMW i4 drives like a thoroughbred Bavarian, and that is precisely the reason why journalists all over the world praise it so much.

Of course, there are a few loose ends, ergonomic snags and similar little things, but you will find that out together with me in the video.
