Czech car companies have been knocked around, they have helped the industry to grow

Czech industry grew by 1.7 percent year-on-year in June. The growth was helped by strengthening production in automobile production, in which automakers caught up with the decline in production from previous months thanks to improved supplies of some parts. In other industries, for example in metallurgy or wood production, on the other hand, growth stopped.

In a month-on-month comparison, industrial production was half a percent higher.

“Despite the improvement in the situation with the supply of car parts, industrial production stagnated month-on-month in June. In a number of sectors, the growth that we recorded during the past months has stopped,” said Radek Matějka, director of the Department of Agriculture and Forestry, Industry, Construction and Energy Statistics of the CZSO.

Construction is slowing down

Construction production in the Czech Republic continued to slow year-on-year growth in June, rising by 0.8 percent in real terms from May’s 3.3 percent. Production was slightly higher thanks to construction, i.e. construction of buildings, which increased by 3.1 percent compared to last June. On the contrary, the production of engineering construction, which includes the construction of roads or telecommunications and energy networks, was lower by 4.2 percent year-on-year.
