The seventh part of the legendary Polda series from the Czech studio Zima Software has been out for a few days now and is enjoying positive feedback. From us you get the title from review took away a very nice 8 points out of 10. But the developers now have to deal with completely different things, because they have been hit hard by piracy.
Producer and programmer Petr Svoboda commented on this for the magazine Vortex. He says that to his surprise, the illegal copy appeared before the release, which means the only one behind it is one of the backers on HitHitu, where the game was a huge success two years ago. The person behind it calls himself Ciko and still laughs at the authors. Freedom, of course, invites anyone who knows Chik’s identity to report it to him. The case is not being resolved with the police either.
The developers are trying to delete the cracked versions, but it’s basically a fight with windmills, because more and more copies are appearing on all sorts of portals. Petr Svoboda also tries to solve the situation by discussing it with people on forums, but he often gets vulgar insults instead of understanding.
In addition, financially, it does not look very good for the studio yet. According to Svoboda, the development has not yet paid off and the games have sold less than expected, in which the mentioned piracy undoubtedly also plays a role. The studio had big plans for the future, but they are not certain at all now. Developers do not rule out a complete end to game development.
“We really had a lot of plans – Steam versions of older parts, a remaster of Poldy 2, which people like very much, a new Pold, or a new dark adventure. But if you don’t sell enough seven, then it just all goes down and I go to earn money like a regular programmer, “ says Freedom for Vortex magazine.
On behalf of the Zing editorial staff, we urge all players who are interested in Police 7 to obtain a copy legally either Steamor in the physical version in the store Xzone.
