CyL allocates 9 million for 690,000 flu vaccines

The Council of Government today gave the green light to the Ministry of Health to receive 690,500 doses of vaccines, worth 9.3 million euros, which will be used during the 2024 regional campaign against the flu, and it is expected that the beginning will begin in the latter. quarter of this year.

In particular, there will be four types of vaccines for indicated use according to the needs of each age population group and health and social risk.

The flu vaccines given are distributed in 180,000 doses (valued at 1,778,400 euros) for the general population between 60 and 64 years of age, children between six and twenty-three months old age and people between five and 59 years of age included in risk groups; 460,000 vaccinations (6,219,200 euros) for the non-institutionalized general population aged 60 or older; 50,000 units (1,300,000 euros) aimed at institutionalized persons aged 65 or older or non-institutionalized dependents in that age group; and 500 doses (4,004 euros) for patients with a registered allergy to any of the components of the previous types of vaccines.

Influenza vaccination, along with good hygiene practices, is the most effective protection measure against this respiratory tract and its complications, especially among people who, as a result of their membership in the health and social risk groups, at a higher risk not only of catching the disease. more severe, but becomes a vector of transmission to others.
